In an old book, it is said that the art of ice cream was born in Italy and that the first ice creams in Paris were served to Catherine de’ Medici in 1533. The secret remained in the Louvre because the Florentine pastry chefs and cooks of the palace did not let anyone know about their art.

For this reason Parisians had to wait more than a century to taste an ice cream! The fashion of ice cream, in fact, was introduced in France in 1600 by a man called Procopio Coltelli, from Palermo, who opened in Paris a bar under his name: the Café Procope. The rapid success of this café, where they started to give ice creams the shape of an egg, pushed lemonade and soft drink sellers to imitate his example. Among these it is worth mentioning Tortoni, who with his delicious ice creams opened a bar of European fame.

Ingredients
 
 

  • Cream for desserts already sweetened cold of refrigerator
  • 20 g icing sugar
  • Peel of half a lemon untreated
  • 100 ml lemon juice (about 2 big lemons)
  • 25 g dark chocolate drops

Instructions
 

  • To prepare this very simple but really fast ice cream, even without an ice cream maker, you will need to start by placing the well-cold cream and sifted icing sugar in a bowl. Whip the cream together with the sugar with the whips until it is thick.
  • At that point add the lemon zest and juice, continue to mix everything with the whisk.
  • Then add the chocolate chips, mixing with a spatula.
  • Place in a tightly closed container and let rest in the freezer for 30 min. Every 30 min, about 3 times, stir your ice cream making sure it is creamy. This way it won't crystallize and will stay super creamy.
  • After 1.30 - 2 hours your ice cream will be ready to enjoy. Serve it along with some chocolate chips and it will be even better ?
